Yes, we are still alive! ..we have pics! You can see James enjoying a carmel (dulce de leche) filled cookie the size of a Big Mac. The building is one of the community centres we volunteer at, the foam is from carnival, the dragon is from china town and the sausage, well that is on the street.
Anyway, life is good in Buenos Aires. We are basically volunteering, going to the gym, eating well and drinking wine! We have reluctantly decided that maybe we need to cut down on our wine consumption....but we´ll see what happens.
This weekend was a busy one for us including Carnival, Chinese New Years and the Superbowl. To sum it up, picture us covered head to toe in spray foam, fighting our way through 10, 000 people in 5 blocks all wanting to touch the dragon and us chiling in our apartment with beer and pizza. James has yet to buy a choripan (street smokie) but with the street grills I am sure he won´t be able to resist for long.
We are still hoping to find another volunteer organization, however it is not proving as easy as one might think. We are keeping our eyes and ears open. For now, we will continue to work with kids in the shantytowns helping with school support and doing recreational activities.
That´s us in a nutshell. We are hoping to buy some camping gear and get out of the city one of these weekends. We are so happy to be away from -50 weather however do miss everyone a lot. Hope all is well and keep in touch.
xoxo

Good to hear from you again. Yes you certainly wouldn't miss this cold. I find I don't even care to leave the house.
We have been busy gearing up for some soccer tournaments up and coming so have some traveling on our plates (Edmonton and Red Deer). Not the kind of traveling I would like.
I had a soccer game last night and got hit pretty hard so am a little sore today. Maybe I am too old for this. Usually I can escape these brutes and walk away unscathed. We were winning 1-0 and there were only a couple of minutes remaining and they were pressing hard so we couldn't allow them to even shoot. It was tough but we pulled through.
Shivon is now employed at Walmart before and after school. She works in the bakery if you can believe that. Nash is concerned for her safety around the ovens. Even Grandma asked when she called last week if Shivon works near the oven. She said she stood near it to warm up. Now that gives you an idea as to how cold it has been.
Rylan is back at school just starting the second term. He had about 10 days off and we were looking for cheap flights to Argentina but they don't exist. We are always keeping our eyes open.
Nash is a busy guy with school, soccer, school basketball and Alberta Winter games volleyball. He hardly has a night free. And of course the up and coming spelling bee in Calgary.
Chris is taking his second photo class at SAIT. He is really enjoying it but wants to take some time off to work on what he has learned.
Myself, I have been booking lots of trips (not for myself) and babysitting the dog. She goes through spells of whinning at night. This does not make for a happy me in the morning. More school for the dog!
We are happy that you are having some down time. Hopefully you will find some more volunteer work soon. Your deck looks really appealing. Keep posting as we look forward to your blogs.
Love the Hayward's
Sorry this is late but anyway "Happy Valentines Day" hope you had a wonderful day. Waiting paatiently for new updates.
We had a bad storm here at the beginning of the week but now it is quite nice and suppose to be a nice weekend.
LOTS OF LOVE TO BOTH OF YOU
MOM
Thanks for the update! Glenn was eyeing the bottles of beer!
Beautiful weekend here! It is the Scott Tournament of Hearts - Michelle Englot (skip for the SK team) lost her father on Friday night and so she is, as the LP reads, "Playing with a Heavy Heart". We stopped by the Brandt Centre and picked up tickets for the draw on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. We are going to watch Team Canada against Saskatchewan. We stayed to see a bit of the opening ceremony and then headed over to the U of R to watch some wrestling. I have a female student who is wrestling, for the first year, on the team.
We stopped by Victoria Park to see the Fire and Ice display - sculptures are mostly large play structures for kids - not really "ice" sculptures - more like snow sculptures.
We are going to watch the Cougars play against Winnipeg - we always love this match up! If the Cougars BBall win they go off to finals against Brandon.
Levi was here on Thursday to catch a flight to Cancun on Friday. Glenn and he had a nice visit - I was in bed before Levi got in from Lethbridge.
Katie is getting really excited about her spring break trip to Italy and France. She has countdown on her cell phone. She is loving her work at Java Express. She is making her application for the U of R in the next couple of weeks.
Nothing else really going on here...nice to see that spring is just around the corner.
Happy "heart" Day!
Love,
G & C
