just got back from a test run of the new camping equipment...can´t go on a 7 day trek without testing your gear first right?
we went to a national park El Palmar about 4 hours north of BsAs in the middle of nowhere really, but it was really great! (minus the hangover that meighan had from drinking to much champagne while we watched the grammies...poor girl) full of great people watching and the wildlife wasn´t to shabby either. snakes, crazy bugs, huge lizards roaming freely in the campground...some huge rat like things that come out only at night in one spot in the park. and hey the tent is small, but it works and i don´t want to carry anymore than i have to.
from there we went over to Mercedes in Uruguay and discovered a wonderful small city with a great camping spot on the Rio Negro...
perfect for a valentine day picnic. the people in this city were incredibly friendly and the whole city seems to live around the river at night...gangs of Yerba Mate sippers, hoards of cruzing scooters, and packed beaches and bbq pits...very laid back and very friendly. couldn´t find an open restaurant until after 9:30 the first night, just getting busy when we left after 11...
off the Montevideo the next day and spent a day wandering around dowtown and a day renting bikes and riding to the nearest beach...a few KMs away from downtown. it was a great hot saturday for the beach...and everyone else was loving it too. gets so busy on the beach strip after 5...the whole city comes alive on the beach, and fishing off the seawall...of course with a healthy dose of Mate, Box of Wine, or jug of beer, or all three.
now we are back at ¨home¨ and getting ready for another fab week in BsAs

Okay James, obviously Meighan hasn't told you about my reaction when seeing even a picture of a snake. Stopped myself before I smashed the monitor of this computer. But for you, only, I will try to get over that picture, can always scroll down very fast. I will have to update my anti-virus as to me that is a bad one.
Was very happy to get the phone call and finding out that you two are still alive. Momma was getting alittle worried. Try not to put this old women through that again.
Happy to hear all is still going good. Keep smiling and having fun and have a beer for me.
LOVE MOM
Good Afternoon!
We can "feel" the heat from the pictures of beach...ahhh!
You both look so relaxed!
We're enjoying the same beautiful sunshine at -25!
Today is Family Day in Saskatchewan. Enjoying our books, doing laundry - might take in a movie later today.
It is nice that you are able to rent bikes - what a wonderful way to see the countryside!
Thanks for keeping in touch!
Love,
G & C
