the past few days have been good...nah...great! we are now settled in guadalajara for a couple weeks of spanish lessons (much needed i might add).
a couple of days in Durango were nice last week. it is a very friendly and western city. the main plaza was brimming with people as there was some cultural festival going down. we saw this cool dude in the sombrero and of course the two white people get singled out in the crowd and get asked where they are from. meighan responded CANADA, in a very texan drawl...and then he shouted vive le canada a few times...gotta love the attention. next on the agenda was to find a rodeo in zacatecas...that we never did manage to find (although we met many english speaking amigos along the way). it appears very hard to find things in mexico as they a not publicized very well with precise locations or times, even the people we asked all had a different interpretation even though some of the were going later in the day.
zacatecas was also a very nice city with donkeys carrying jars of drinks on the street in the morning! we both got to sample some of the local donkey carted "honey water" made from cactus juice...i love donkeys! also went through a cool art gallery that was previously a prison. meighan wasn´t feeling so well either for our time here, but now feeling much better...no accidents for her.
we have developed a system for getting ol ruby around the country...i navigate and meighan drives...and actually her crazy driving fits right in here...nobody else pays attention to lanes or other insignificant stuff like that here either.
now in guadalajara we are registered for 2 weeks of spanish lessons and looking forward to it. small class of 4 and a really nice teacher. october is also a month long festival here so that should be wild and maybe we´ll get to that rodeo afterall...and maybe some tequilla tasting!
p.s. the beard is still growing strong...although i stick out like sore thumb!

Happy Thanksgiving!
We were out in Grenfell for "Lace 'em Up!" Homecoming weekend. Mom and Dad got us tickets to a pasta supper on Saturday night followed by a stand up comedy routine with Brent Butt. Today we went to the quilt show, art show (Dad was the feature artist) - turkey dinner and home.
The air is cool and crisp - snow in Alberta - won't be long and we'll see the white blanket of snow in Saskatchewan.
I was home sick for three days this week - Katie was home sick the week before - waiting to see if Glenn can stay well. He is heading for a 17 day shut down on the 17th of October. He'll miss one Rider game - but we hope we get a playoff game.
Katie is crazy busy with piano lessons, work and managing homework. She is saving for a spring break trip to Italy and France.
That's it for now!
So glad to read the you are both doing well. Good idea to stop for a few Spanish lessons - nice Teacher/Student ratio! 30 - 1 here!
Take care...
Many blessings to both of you...
