bad days gone by

well i consider myself a pretty lucky guy by most accounts...things seem to have a way of working out in my favour, and i haven´t had a real bad day in quite a long while. but that horrid day in Creel will long stick in my memory.
1.) i don´t know if can blame the flu, food poisoning, or just some plain old traveller´s poo, but i had bona fide accident in my pants at the hotel room. quite humbling for a 32 year old man, but meighan had quite the howler at it.
2.)they say idle minds cause trouble and it seems true from where i sit. who the hell needs to be playing with the menu settings on the camera 2 months into a trip??? does the recording volume really need to be adjusted? did i need to changed the format size of the manual pictures? and how the hell does Canon let me reformat the whole disk without so much as warning prompt? ah well i does´n´t matter now i guess. you all should have seen meighan´s face i relayed a sad sounding ¨oh shit!¨ (and given problem 1 of the day she probably assumed it was something different).
...i guess everyone needs one of the days to rebase in reality, but i didn´t need that hard of slap did i?
now i trust you will all never speak of this day again, and if you should ever mention it i promise to destroy your curiousity with all the sorrid details!
the days in mazatlan were hot and humid but very, very enjoyable. the ocean was just what we needed. the pacifico and shrimp ceviche was a perfect combo in the hot afternoon.
the drive to durango was a bit of nail bitter, but we made it 6 hours later (i love regina where it takes 3 hours to drive 300 km). durango is very nice and friendly and we are hoping to get to a rodeo tomorrow. lots of western movies were filmed here and i even got my pic taken with a world famous cowboy.
take care and happy B'day Pops!

Hello U 2!

So glad to read that you are back to feeling better, James. Well Meighan that's the "For Better For Worse....(I guess)" part.

You can never have to many pictures of the Duke! Nice touch, James!

The Lumsden Valley is gorgeous! Katie and I went down to pick up a pumpkin and then drove through Lumsden to see the scarecrows set up on the front of everyone's lawn! Very cool - scarecrows as artists, bank robbers, painters...whole town setting up for their fall festival which was held today and tomorrow.

We were at the Rider game, today. Up against Montreal 33 22 - Rider win..finally!

I'm teaching a class at FNUC on Monday nights. It is very enjoyable. Had a bottle drive at the school and made 1600.00! and raised over $4,000 for Terry Fox!

October is on it's way and we have the cool winds and rain...the fall leaves chase behind us on our evening walks.

Take care,

Love,

G & C

Hello again

This is so exciting tracing your way as you go. I can't imagine how you feel on the other end of this journey.

So sad to hear of your pictures, but the memories will never leave you. James I feel your sickness. I have never experienced this but have been with others who have. It could just be the change in foods over a long period of time that gets to you. I wish you well.

I keep telling everyone that James looks like Abe Lincoln so Rylan is going to give it a go. After 3 weeks in Italy whilst no shaving he had maybe 7 long hairs at the base of his chin, so we will see how long he can go now. I don't think we will have Abe living here but who knows.

Rylan is still playing School Volleyball and have all wins in the school games. Hopefully they will finish well as they host Provincials this year. His soccer practices will start soon and games commence mid December.

Shivon is now supposedly grown and mature and attending Olds College. She is finding it is definitely not High School. Tough times are only beginning. So nice to be an adult.

Nash is competing in the 800 m track today. Wish him well. He also made the Volleyball team at school so we will be attending more games. How our schedule fills. He is also playing soccer and attending weekly goalie training.

Chris is busy at work and trying to get in as many Aikido classes before our schedule goes wild.

I am back at Yoga and have a Kickstart soccer tournament next week. This is the way to get right back into it.

The weather has been nice for fall but rather cool this morning about -1.

We are off to Montana for the weekend and then back on Monday for the Calgary vs Rider game. Let's hope I'm good luck.

We are quite jealous as we had been looking at the Copper Canyon as a possible destination sometime. Someday before I get rickety I'm hoping to get there.

We have decided not to join you at Easter for the Inca Trail as we feel 10 days is not sufficient time to explore it all. This is unfortunate but hopefully we will go before I get too old to trek it.

We will be off to Phoenix with friends for a week then. We have tickets for a Phoenix Suns vs Houston Rockets game. It should be fun as I have never been there and I believe there is lots to see. We just need a week to relax and get away.

Take care and keep writing. I love this journey.
