Hey Everyone,
Finished up our time in Bolivia on Lake Titicaca. A little walking, boat riding and sight seeing around Cococabana and Isla del Sol (birth place of the sun). James was in donkey heaven as there were donkey trains everywhere we looked. Bolivia was lovely and we were sad to leave however, we are excited to be in Peru!
We are currently in Cuzco. James had his first taste of cuy...that is guinea pig in English. He said although there wasn´t much meat, the taste wasn´t too bad. Take note of the little leg sticking off the plate... maybe he´ll cook some up for everyone when we get home!
We were planning to move on yesterday but it happened to be the fiesta of Corpus Christi here in Cuzco, so we decided to stay and take it in. The basic story is each neighbourhood has a gigantic patron saint that they carry to the main Cathedral on the day prior to the actual festival. Each saint is carried by about 20 men, some without shoes. They are proceeded by dancers and followed by a huge brass band. On the festival day, the Saints leave the Cathedral for a tour around the main plaza. The whole process of having 15 Saints parade around the plaza, each with their own band, pushing through about 15,000 (or more) people, took about 5 hours. The saints stay for one week and then march back to their own churches. Nutty!
Tomorrow we are heading out to do some hiking in the hills of Peru!
Hope all is well.

What great luck to be there for the fiesta!
Looks like you found some friends as crazy as you guys last week. Which reminds me - where are the haggard backpacker pictures... the ones where you're wearing the same white shirt over and over that was washed with your mate's yellow pants and is now unprofessionally tie-dyed?? Are you guys staying in 4 star accommodations and then just posing by the tent, etc?
Your pictures and stories are wonderful. Can't wait to hear more in person.
You should know that this blog site is visited by many people who mention it to me but are suspiciously absent from the comments. I guess they're all a bit shy.
Take care!
Anne
Hello,
Thanks for the update! The photos you have lifted are great "flavour" of the country. We can't even imagine how many photos you will have to share!
Cathedral Village Arts Festival was on the weekend. Beautiful morning...afternoon, rain :( Expanded down a couple of the streets - lots of jewellry and artists. Some great bands! Tons of people...as always, food!
We finally got an overnight rain...farmers and gardens were begging for rain...it has been raining for over 24 hours. As I am writing this it is still raining.
Riders are in training camp and getting ready for the pre-season games in early June.
The Regina Folk Festival has a great line-up. It is scheduled the first week in August. Not certain if you will be back. It is advertised as the best in Canada. KateLyn is going to Pemberton in late July. Plans on spending 4 days.
That's it for now...take care.
Love,
C & G
I meant "strangely absent" not "suspiciously". Nothing to worry about.... :)
