merry xmas all you kiddies

lots to catch up on...

left xela for antigua for a couple days and had a really great experience on the volcano pacaya. one of three active volcanos in guat (and we got see them all). get so close to the lava (meighan says lava ... real lava) that you can burn a stick or roast a marshmallow...very odd sensation, but very cool! Definitely a highlight!!!!

caught a long bus to guatemala city and on to rio dulce in the east of guate. very different. from here river boats are the mode of transport to belize. spent two nights in livingston which was very different. the garifuna culture is dominant and english very common. got my hair braided on the street one morning...early xmas present for meighan:) (meighan says, yes i married this man!!!) very interesting when the girl braiding said what do you mean you only want 10 braids in the front ...?????

from there another boat to punta gorda in belize. a very sleepy garifuna town with great food.... finally!

two hour bus and another short boat ride to get to placencia and more importantly the beach! here we are till after xmas to enjoy some sun and good beer! (meighan says that we miss all of our friends and family, but we are loving christmas on the beach!) Creole language and food is flowing ... oxtail stew for lunch - made with real oxtails.

take care all and have a safe holiday season! we will be thinking about you all lots.

Good Morning!

Well Katie is in "recovery" and doing very well. She is moving very slowly, but enjoying watching movings and drinking egg nog!

Glenn is at work until 2:00 today - at lunch time they shut down for a BBQ and drinks! Then, he is off for 10 days!

I was out last minute shopping for Glenn's gift - this year I am getting him a beer making kit and the equipment. By the time you two get back, he should have it perfected!!

We are going to Estevan on the 26th, but we don't think Katie is going to be able to make the trip.

We are really enjoying our new cat, Olive, and Riley isn't so lonely. The only problem is they wake us up at 5:00 in the morning!!!

Today it is -6 - beautiful day!! The city is a buzz with excitement.

XXOO

Merry Christmas!! We miss you both and "wish we were there!"

Hi Guys

Good to hear from you. We were thinking you looked a little washed out on the beach. Missing your winter coats? We don't yet know about the Belize trip as we are waiting confirmation. I will be pushing really hard for it. I told your mom that if Chris can't make it she needed to pack quick. Let's hope it works out. As usual your pictures are amazing and we are all jealous. You are both looking healthy and happy. Wishing you were here and missing you lots. I will keep you updated.

PS Sadie and Sisco are wearing each other out. It is a serious competition for toys, food, whatever the other wants. Our little puppy is pretty tough and they are keeping us all really entertained. We will send you some Christmas pictures shortly.

Love the Hayward's

Happy Anniversary!

We can't help but be taken back to your beautiful wedding - the intimate moments before, during and after your wedding. Especially the live performance on stage at the Exchange! Congratulations you two!

We spent the evening with Brenda and Dale (Cheryl's sister and husband) - dinner at Memories - nice:) - then back home for champagne and a game of cards.

Hope you are both well and could enjoy the beauty of the New Year...

Love you,

C & G

Happy New Year Meighan and James! And Merry Christmas and happy anniversary and all that other stuff too! It hardly seems like a year since we were dancing at your wedding and enjoying the marvelous food and perhaps a drink or two!

Christmas here was warm (choke, choke... i mean, for here!) but New Year's was brutal! Those braids would've been ice-tipped for sure!

James I know you want to ask me about holiday plans.... 2 1/2 weeks in Hawaii in February sounds good most of the time, but perhaps not to people on a year long journey! I'm bringing my golf clubs so between that, the beach, and the best ballroom dancing on the planet, i should have plenty of fun.
I'm sure enjoying your blog... keep up the fun and excitement, you two!
