we have hit the jackpot in oaxaca. we are staying in a super family place that has given us the opportunity to participate in the event like we belonged. We got to help a family decorate the alter and then join in the celebration in the main cemetery with the family and friends and of course much booze and a mariachi band. we feel so lucky to have seen this event from this perspective and everything about mexico continues to far exceed our expectations. Many thanks to Javier, Marianne, Carlos, and Paula (sorry if me spelling sucks). You have shared something very special with us and it has touched our emotions deeply!

Hello,
Once again...your immersion of the culture is so fascinating...I remember taking a class and learning about the celebration of the dead ceremony in Mexico...
For Halloween I dressed as a "biker" - not original, but the students and staff learned a little more about my "alter ego"!
Riders had a miserable loss, yesterday. I attended a sweat with a friend who was receiving her Indian name - it was powerful!
You both look so very happy!
Take care...
Love,
G & C

It was great meeting you. I am now wrapping up my fourth day in Puerto Escondido. It has been like a dream come through. I headed down with Josh and two Perth-girls. Tonight, I will be on the bus back to Guatemala. Yeah..lots of changes to plans :-)
